Artificial Intelligence: Myths, Reality, and Its Profound Future Impact
Ted Dintersmith, Author and Education Change Agent

Artificial Intelligence is the most important invention in our lifetimes, profoundly affecting career, citizenship, and life. In the education sphere, AI already outperforms humans on all high-stakes curriculum-defining exams. It’s poised to eliminate the millions of jobs now filled by fresh college grads. AI begs us to innovate past an education model that trains students to perform narrow skills … that AI performs perfectly. Amidst its complexities, AI offers educators this remarkable gift: Our K12 graduates can be far more proficient than today’s Phi Beta Kappa college grads. Across Michigan, districts are producing graduates with agency, purpose, and enduring skills that leverage, or complement, the power of AI. These bright spots are our North Star. If we dare to be bold, Michigan's kids and communities will soar, as we restore passion and purpose to the teaching profession.
