2024 MASA Fall Conference has ended
Wednesday September 18, 2024 3:30pm - 4:45pm EDT
Teachers deserve every opportunity to strengthen their knowledge and skill set. Students deserve teachers who know and prioritize research-supported practices. Through this session, district leaders will examine how the Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) and GELNs Essential Instructional Practices (EIP) professional learning complement one another to provide educators with the skills and knowledge to support effective instructional practices. Participants will engage with resources and have opportunities for reflection and collaboration that foster a collective understanding of The How and Why of Literacy. Takeaways: 1. Participants will be able to clarify how LETRS and the EIP professional learning opportunities provide educators with a deeper and more comprehensive learning experience to support effective literacy instruction for Michigan’s students. 2. Participants will be able to explore entry points to apply the “how” and the “why” of literacy based on LETRS and EIP professional learning in their development of a comprehensive district literacy system. 3. Participants will identify the next steps to support the full breadth and depth of literacy professional learning in their districts.
